Refuge is a reduction print, where each color layer was carved out from a single block, creating a limited edition series of 12 prints. Each print is numbered, titled, and signed on the front. Prints are shipped with a backing board and cellophane sleeve for protection.
Experience the moment when the moon has just risen above the pines, the winter sky has turned the most beautiful soft peachy salmon pink, and a hush has fallen over the land. You stand in perfect silence, mesmerized by the beauty. This print was an opportunity to work with multiple detailed layers to create a whole landscape scene. I also got to try adding a lighter layer over a darker layer (the opposite of most printing) with the final green layer for the pine needles going down over the darker brown tree shadows. I love the color of the sky and the under layer of barely there creamy yellow for the perfectly round moon.
